Florida man arrested after crashing into Elyria hotel: Police
ELYRIA, Ohio (WOIO) - Police tracked down a Florida man on Saturday accused of crashing into an Elyria hotel and then running from the scene.
According to a release from Elyria Police, officers were called to the Sycamore Suites Hotel on the 600 block of Midway Boulevard just after 10 a.m.
Police said hotel staff found damage to the glass wall on the ground level and called dispatch.
Police found a black Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into the hotel overnight and then the driver drove away from the scene.
Police identified the driver as Simon Cruz Aguilar, 30, of Fort Pierce, Florida. Aguilar was a guest at the hotel.
Aguilar allegedly moved the SUV to a nearby business after the crash. Police recovered the vehicle and arrested Aguilar.
The crash damaged the hotel’s outdoor pool enclosure and shattered several glass panels and a guard rail, according to police.
There were, however, no injuries in the crash.
Police said additional charges are pending.
