Family rescued after being trapped by fast-moving river in Concord Township

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - One adult and three juveniles were rescued at Liberty Hollow Park in Concord Township Monday evening after being trapped by a sudden surge of fast-moving water.

Concord Township Fire Chief Mike Sabo said they were called out just before 8 p.m.

When they arrived, the family was trapped on the opposite side of the river.

Chief Sabo said the group was not in distress, but they were unable to safely return across the river due to the dangerous current.

A Lake Metroparks Ranger ended up being able to safely escort the family out on foot.

Chief Sabo said none of the family members were injured.

Multiple fire departments, including, Fairport Harbor, Painesville City, Perry, Painesville Township, Chardon, Eastlake, Mentor, and Wickliffe assisted at the scene.

Members of the Lake County Technical Rescue Team also responded.

Liberty Hollow Park is in the 6700 block of Fay Rd. in Lake Metroparks.
