New Russia Township Zoning Commission recommends to deny application for ‘mega site’
Residents were fired up
NEW RUSSIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WOIO) - Before a crowd of fiery residents, members of the New Russia Township Zoning Commission voted to recommend that trustees deny the application for a “mega site” project near the airport in New Russia Township, citing growing opposition from residents.
It heads to the board of trustees now for consideration.
Liberty Development is requested the zoning change, though unconfirmed rumors suggest a data center could occupy the site.
Residents have repeatedly told the zoning commission and trustees to stop what they called an unwanted industrial development in their farming community.
Drew Siler with Liberty Development, said their goal is to bring jobs to the area, whether it’s from one business or many.
