CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A judge has sentenced two brothers in the stabbing death of a co-worker outside of Cleveland’s Academy Tavern.

Omar and Jeremy Calloway are the two men involved in stabbing a cook to death at the popular Academy Tavern on Cleveland’s East Side.

Jeremy Calloway will spend one and a half years on probation. If Calloway does not adhere to the parameters set around his probation, he will face a 36-month prison sentence.

Omar Calloway has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for his involvement in Michael Reese’s death, but can be granted an early release after 15 years. After Calloway is released from prison, he will face five years of probation, and if he violates probation, he will face an additional eight years in prison.

Omar, 24, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, and his brother Jeremy, 27, pleaded guilty to obstructing justice.

Police say the Calloways got into an argument with co-worker Michael Reese last March.

Police say there was a fight in the kitchen that spilled outside the restaurant, and that’s when Reese, 23, was stabbed and killed.

Reese’s mom says her son was an aspiring musician who had worked at the Academy Tavern for four years, moving up from a dishwasher to a cook.
