Coronavirus task force: Doctors now allowed to practice across state lines discusses decision to close Canadian border

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - President Donald Trump and the White House’s coronavirus task force discussed the latest national efforts in combating the spread of COVID-19.

A briefing was held on Wednesday from Washington, D.C.

The president started by announcing the invocation of the Defense Production Era, which will help in the production of emergency medical supplies, such as ventilators, respirators, and masks.

President Trump also said FEMA hhas been activated at its highest level in regions impacted the most by coronavirus.

On Wednesday morning, the president tweeted out news that a mutual decision was made with Canada to close the northern border to non-essential traffic as a preventative measure.

Additional measures discussed during Wednesday’s briefing included orders for the Department of Health and Human Services to allow medical professionals to practice across state lines and for the Housing and Urban Development agency to suspect evictions temporarily.

The president is also scheduled to speak with airline industry executives and health care personnel on Wednesday regarding the response to coronavirus.
