Fairport Harbor caregiver sentenced after using client’s internet to download, trade CSAM

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Willoughby Police Department shared that a man was sentenced to prison last week for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) offenses.

According to police, on March 19 the department received a call from a neighboring agency regarding a suspect who was believed to be in possession of CSAM in the city of Willoughby.

A detective began an investigation with the information received, the investigation identified Brandon Gill, 41, of Fairport Harbor.

Gill, who was employed as an in-home caregiver, was using a client’s internet connection to download and trade child sexual abuse material.

Police said on April 15, officers attempted to serve a search warrant at Gill’s residence, but he initially barricaded himself inside his vehicle and was believed to have a firearm.

It was later determined he had a fake firearm, and he eventually surrendered to police without further incident.

On June 15, he was indicted by a grand jury on several counts, and last month he plead guilty to the following:

• Pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor
• Tampering with evidence

Last week on September 22, Gill was sentenced to a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years in prison. He is also subject to up to five years of post-release control.

Willoughby Police thanked the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office and the United States Secret Service for their assistance throughout the investigation and prosecution of this case.
